May 1st USAP Rule Update: What You Need to Know
USA Pickleball Paddle Rule Update and What It Means for FLiK Players
As of May 1, 2026, USA Pickleball introduced new paddle certification requirements aimed at keeping paddle power under control. We want to explain what changed — and more importantly, what it actually means for you.
What changed?
1. The new PBCoR .43 standard
All newly manufactured paddles must now pass a stricter rebound test called PBCoR. The goal is simple: reduce the trampoline effect that’s been creeping into modern paddles and keep kitchen play skill-based.
Paddles stamped .44 will no longer be legal in USAP-sanctioned tournaments.
2. The new stamp requirement
Going forward, tournament-legal paddles must carry the updated USAP PBCoR marking. Older paddles that only have the traditional “USAP Approved” stamp move into recreational-play status.
Referees are now allowed to check stamps at sanctioned events.

What this means for FLiK paddles
Our F1, F3, and Falcon models already meet the new requirements and include the 2026 PBCoR stamp.
The Body Helix X4 and X5 were built under the previous approval system. They were fully legal when produced and still represent excellent paddle technology. After reviewing the new standards, we made the decision not to re-certify these legacy models as we transition entirely into newer FLiK core platforms. To be clear: these paddles didn’t suddenly become worse overnight — they simply lack the new secondary stamp required for sanctioned tournaments.
Can you still play with an X4 or X5?
Absolutely. They remain great options for:
- everyday recreational play
- club leagues and ladder matches
- drilling and practice sessions
Most local play does not require the 2026 PBCoR certification. We will keep them as options for those players. The paddles have legal power. The stamp ensures others that you will not be playing with a paddle that is bazooka level and dangerous for those around you. It just cannot be used in a Sanctioned USAP tournament.
How can you tell which certifications the paddles have?
We want to be as transparent as we can. So, moving forward we will now show you on the main image which stamps the paddle has:

Fully USAP and PBCoR approved and certified.

Rec Level - USAP approved only.

Sandbox Level - no certifications.
These are paddles with a technology we are currently developing (Axon) or paddles that we built just for those players who want quality build but don't need stamps (ZIP). These paddles are not built to be dangerous for the game. Some are oversized (FLiK+); some are overgrit (F1smh); all are made to be fun paddles but not dangerously powerful paddles.
The practical takeaway
If you’re not entering a nationally sanctioned USAP tournament right now, the X4 and X5 are still fantastic paddles — and honestly one of the best values available. We’ve reduced them to $90 (use code gasMeUp) and you can stack an affiliate code with it for an additional 10% off.
Don't have an affiliate code? Use FLiK for an extra 10% off, bringing your paddle down to $81
